THE UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN DENMARK SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA

The University of Southern Denmark Symphony Orchestra is the first - and so far only - Danish symphony orchestra ever associated with a university. This was formed in 2002 by its current conductor Saul Zaks, who is also conductor of the University of Southern Denmark Chamber Choir.

The orchestra consists of 50 talented musicians from the region of Southern Denmark and who are either at the university or at the Royal Academy of Music.

Through the years, the orchestra has participated in concerts, radio broadcasts and recordings in Europe and South America. Its repertoire is broad and spans works from Scandinavian music to music in new tango style. The orchestra has been acclaimed for its “International experience, class and repertoire."

It is often the case that musicians from The University of Southern Denmark Symphony Orchestra appear as soloists both in Denmark and abroad. At these occasions they often get the opportunity to play with internationally renowned artists.
